Arved von Breitenstein Fund

As the depletion of fossil energy sources is accelerating and its utilization is said to cause severe environmental damages, as e.g. climate change, it becomes more and more essential to make use of environmentally more friendly renewable energies (RE), such as wind, solar, biomass or water.

Especially in the rural regions of subsaharan Africa, where energy utilization in the form of electricity is very often just to commence, it is a great opportunity that native people are taught how to harness those locally available renewable energies with domestic materials and technologies.

At the Mafinga Lutheran Vocational Training Center (MLVTC) in Tanzania a two year long vocational training in renewable energies was set up in order to teach native people. This training shall offer those students a future perspective in their very individual lives and at the same time allow for an increasingly sustainable society.

It is our goal to give to any interested and gifted applicant the opportunity to get trained as a craftsmen in the field of RE. For those students that face severe difficulties to pay for this two year long vocational training a fund under the name of NSI's first chairman Arved von Breitenstein offers a scholarship.

You want to become a trained craftsman for renewable energies in Tanzania?

If you are a talented student in Tanzania interested in studying renewable energies at the MLVTC, please contact Mr. Onesmo Maseleka, director of school.

You want to donate a scholarship?

In 2011 a scholarship at the RE department of the MLVTC has an annual value of 540.000 TZS (~250€), summing up to 1.080.000 TZS (~500€) for an entire two year long vocational training.
